Origins
The Mech Ant Speeder had its origins as a challenge to the zaLUG members to build some kind of speeder within a set dimension. The theme was open and could include anything from sci-fi, steampunk to space – imagination is the limit. Ideally, the speeder had to accommodate a minifig.
This was the winning submission as voted by the members. It broke away from the stereotypical speeder in the form of a vehicle, encapsulating the idea around mech insects, in this instance an ant, build and adapted for speed to race in some kind of arena.
